50 Relationship Check-In Questions for Your Weekly Couple Meeting

A weekly couple check-in sounds stiff until you've actually had a few. The couples that do them tend to say the same thing: "I can't believe we weren't doing this sooner." The trick is having good questions. Not therapist questions — just the right mix of logistics, feelings, and playfulness to keep things honest without being heavy.

How to Run a Check-In

Pick a regular time — Sunday evenings work for most couples. 15 to 30 minutes. Phones away. Pick 3 to 5 questions from the list below, not all of them. Alternate who picks the questions. That's the whole structure.

Quick Logistics (Start Here)

  • What's coming up this week that I should know about?
  • Is anything on our shared calendar that needs to change?
  • Anything I can take off your plate this week?
  • What are we saying yes to this week that we should say no to?
  • When are we making time for each other this week?

How Are We Doing

  • On a scale of 1–10, how connected did you feel this week?
  • What's one thing I did that made you feel loved?
  • What's something I did that landed wrong — even a little?
  • What did you need more of this week?
  • What did you need less of this week?
  • Did anything feel unfinished between us?
  • Are we spending our time the way we want to?

Gratitude

  • What did I do this week that you're grateful for?
  • What are you proud of yourself for this week?
  • What are you proud of me for this week?
  • What's been the best moment of the week for you?

Looking Forward

  • What's one thing you're looking forward to next week?
  • What's one thing you're dreading, and how can I help?
  • Is there something we've been putting off that we should plan?
  • What would make next week 10% better than this one?

Deeper (When You Have Time)

  • Are we aligned on what we're working toward right now?
  • Is there anything we've been avoiding talking about?
  • What's something you've been thinking about that you haven't told me?
  • How are you feeling about work? Family? Us?
  • What's one dream we haven't talked about in a while?

Playful

  • What's a meal you want me to make this week?
  • If we could take a weekend trip tomorrow, where would we go?
  • What's something silly we should do together soon?
  • What song has been stuck in your head this week?
  • What's something weird you learned this week?
  • If we had an extra three hours tomorrow, how would you want to spend them?

Seasonal / Bigger Picture

  • What do we want this month to feel like?
  • What's one thing we should start doing regularly?
  • What's one thing we should stop doing?
  • What's a ritual we've let slip that we should bring back?
  • What are we celebrating this month?
